The One That Got Away

Now that we have the next few pages planned out, all we have to do is draw them and release them! The main characters for the series have also been completed and the only characters we’ll need to design are characters that won’t be appearing often. This page in particular, almost didn’t make the cut because we all had different ideas on how the situation would unfold. Fortunately for our co-writer, they were able to find a way to retain the original gag while putting a more plausible spin to it.

So we mentioned in our blog that we were going seasonal. What does that mean? Well, if you’ve been watching TV shows you know that they don’t release episodes as they make them. Some production companies set aside the seasonal “downtime” to actually record some of the TV shows in order to provide enough time for post-production and editing to work on them.

The same is going to happen with Xanny’s Curse. We’re going to be introducing a downtime in July and August, where we’ll work on the next panels, and we’re going to be working on something else while the next panels are being released. What this will allow us to do is to preplan an entire set of pages and be able to focus on other aspects of Xanny’s Curse, including the planned animated comic, making new wallpapers and things to share with friends, etc.

With that said, it should be smooth sailing here on out. I will have to talk to the team regarding the timeline of the next page, but I want them to rest for a little bit and congratulate them for a job well done. Why don’t you guys comment on here and let them know what you think of the past few pages and where the story’s headed? I’ll be sure to pass it along for you!

Well the lack of shading makes it look half finished and the punchline doesn’t justify the extra wait - fairly standard anime/manga joke actually so I am feeling a bit disappointed frankly - sorry I can’t be more positive but you shouldn’t build things up in your blog so we expect genius and end up with average - I really need to see a few more pages before I can judge properly where this is going and whether or not it is going to be just a gag of the week comic or a proper narrative and story/plot driven comic.
    Sorry - strictly average comic today :(

  2. You won’t be able to judge the story in one page, especially since we got side tracked and we haven’t made any new pages yet. Meanwhile, we have a very large and involved narrative in the long run so while this page means absolutely nothing to you at this point, we are attempting to both overstate and understate the importance of this particular encounter. Let me be perfectly clear by stating, without ruining the story, that we are still on DAY ONE of Xanny’s life.

  3. I know, I did sort of say that I was withholding judging the comic as a whole until I had seen some more of it - I don’t intend to make up my mind on it just yet.
